The Urthnok
The Urthnok, an essential societal structure within the Urthnaki Confederation, represents the foundation of orcish survival and innovation. Its existence revolves around two primary factions: the Mhizhak and the Orc-Harvesters, each symbolizing critical aspects of Urthnaki life—ingenuity and labour.
The Mhizhak are master inventors and engineers whose contributions define the technological edge of the Urthnaki. Their invention of the Mhille agrarian system revolutionized agriculture, filtering sulfuric acid from soil to create fertile ground for crops in otherwise inhospitable conditions. During the oxygen crisis on Tyrrha, the Mhizhak worked tirelessly within the Guildhouses of Urthnak, pioneering solutions to combat oxygen deprivation. This effort gave rise to Ghulbatics, a groundbreaking bionical system that integrates artificial veins with biological tissue. Ghulbatic veins enhance red blood cell production and accelerate oxygen circulation, blending seamlessly with Urthnaki bodies while displaying a strikingly visible network of pulsating white-blue energy where flesh meets technology.
Complementing the ingenuity of the Mhizhak are the Orc-Harvesters. These labourers and workers, selected from the ‘lesser’ orc caste, are integral to sustaining the economic and industrial needs of the confederation. Their preparation involves the Khariakh ceremony, a sacred rite of sacrificial enslavement, which marks their readiness to serve as workers or commodities traded with the Duxa. Despite their subservient status, the Orc-Harvesters are vital to the Urthnaki’s survival, producing goods, tending fields enriched by the Mhille system, and providing the physical labour required to uphold their society.
